FMS Newsletter: Week of September 27, 2026

Dear Fernwood Families, 

That is a wrap on September, and with it, Episode 1 of our school year is officially in the books!

As we turn the calendar to October, get ready for Episode 2! We kick things off on October 2nd by recognizing National Custodians Day, a huge thank you to our incredible custodial team for keeping Fernwood safe, clean, and running smoothly behind the scenes every single day.

We have a packed, exciting month ahead. Throughout October, we will be marking Week of Respect, Violence Awareness Week, and Red Ribbon Week with great discussions and activities centered on kindness, safety, and community. And to top it all off, we will be rounding out the month with one of our favorite traditions, the Halloween Dance!

Keep an eye out for more details coming home soon. Thank you for being such awesome partners in your children's education. I hope you all get a chance to kick back and enjoy a wonderful Fall weekend.

Mrs. Richardson’s READ 180 classes kicked off their new workshop by becoming investigators! Students explored the workshop topic by building background knowledge about ancient civilizations, examining images and clues, making predictions, and uncovering important vocabulary. These activities helped students activate their curiosity and build the knowledge they’ll need as they begin reading and learning more about the workshop topic.

7th grade Media classes were in charge of promoting our sports! Check out this year's field hockey players! 

Thank you, Wings, for the yummy coffee! Jackson Motto and Luca Cozzi, from Media Club, made this video as a thank you! 

Our Fernwood Wingmen were so excited to start implementing their lessons and activities this week during convocation!  Students had a blast participating in activities like our twist on rock/paper/scissors and a blanket name game, helping them feel connected, included, and respected. 

Shrek Jr. is currently under way! Come visit Duloc and all the fairytale creatures!
