Principal's Message

Dear Fernwood Families,

Welcome back! I hope you all had a restful, safe, and happy Memorial Day weekend filled with quality time alongside family and friends. As we return for this short week, we are entering the final stretch of the school year with some wonderful celebrations.

Our major highlight this week is the National Junior Honor Society (NJHS) Induction Ceremony. This special evening recognizes our outstanding middle school students who have demonstrated excellence in the five pillars of the society: scholarship, leadership, service, character, and citizenship.

Becoming a member of the NJHS is a tremendous achievement that reflects a deep commitment to both academics and our community. We are incredibly proud of the hard work and integrity these students display every day. A huge congratulations to all of our new inductees and their families!

Thank you for your continued partnership as we navigate these final, exciting weeks of the school year.

Sincerely,

Frank Locantora

Corson's Inlet State Park

Students in Mr. Zompa's science class enjoyed field trips to Corson's Inlet State Park thanks to our partners at the Great Egg Harbor Watershed Association. Students completed a bio-survey, water quality testing, and a beach clean-up. They used waders and nets to explore the bay, hiked through a maritime forest, and were able sample pickleweed, a local delicacy. Students learned about the importance of biodiversity, and protecting our ecosystem and local watershed.
